The refrigerators in the full-size Classic series are built into housings with their sides almost flush to the kitchen cabinetry — the door skins protrude from the cabinets about two inches. A second installation choice leaves a one-inch space next to the hinge location to allow the hinge to rotate, so the door doesn’t stick out past the cabinets. Panel-ready models allow you to attach custom paneling and handles to the front of the refrigerator to match and blend in with the rest of your cabinetry. All panel-ready refrigerators are also built-in.

Sub-Zero designed its Classic series of refrigerators with these core features:

• An anti-microbial air purification system (based on technology developed by NASA) that scrubs the air of ethylene, mold, viruses, and bacteria to reduce odors and food spoilage.
• State-of-the-art microprocessor that monitors the climate of each section to keep foods within one degree of your set point. It also monitors lighting and the cooling fan, tells you if the door isn’t closed, and defrosts according to your schedule.
• Dual refrigeration system (over-and-under, and side-by-side models) keeps food fresher longer, and prevents frost and freezer burn in the freezer.
• Magnetic door seal system with extra-heavy insulation to lock in cold air that even keeps food frozen after power outages for multiple days.
• Low temperature/high-humidity storage zones. The crispers and deli drawers are near the evaporator where the temperature is a few degrees cooler. Sealed drawers lock in humidity to keep food fresh.
• Main shelves, door shelves, and drawer dividers adjust for optimum configuration.
• LED lighting for a brighter interior. It’s more energy-efficient, and will last the life of your refrigerator.
• Water filtration system (over-and-under, and side-by-side models) that reduces contaminants and chlorine taste and odors when filtering water for ice. The filter lasts one year or 750 gallons and is easy and fast to replace.
• Freshness cards that provide storage tips to ensure maximum preservation for a variety of foods.
• Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring and controlling.

There’s a vast range of Classic models to choose from. Widths range from 30 to 48 inches, and every model stands 84 inches tall, with the signature Sub-Zero louvered grill at the top. Available configurations include: over-and-under, column (all freezer or all refrigerator), side-by-side, French door, and glass door.

French doors, where only half a door swings out, are ideal for a galley kitchen, or for those times when lots of people are milling around and you need easy access to the fridge. A glass door option will suit those who want their refrigerator to be a well-lit and elegant display case in their modern kitchen. The glass is triple-pane, as well as UV-resistant, and can be specially designed for those living in high-altitude regions.

All models, with the exception of the 36 inch all-refrigerator, have an automatic ice maker that produces crescent-shaped ice cubes. There’s also the “max ice” feature that allows you to increase the ice production by an average of 30 per cent for a 24-hour period — great for entertaining. On some models, as well, you have the option of an external or internal filtered water and ice dispenser.

The Classic over-and-under units feature a refrigerator that’s easily-accessible above a full-extension freezer drawer containing two-tier wire baskets.
